I was experimenting Gingerbread on my original Droid and had noticed that all apps putting into background were ruthlessly killed quickly. After a little research, this is what I found: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/bugless/131879-task-manager-too-aggressive-gingerbread.html The solution mentioned by peteralfonso there worked. —quote— 1) Install “AutoKiller Memory Optimizer” from Market. 2) Open AutoKiller > Menu > Settings > Enable advanced mode 3) Set the following values: Foreground app: 6 Visible app: 10 Secondary server: 20 Hidden app: 24 Content provider: 28 Empty app: 28 4) Apply new values 5) Reboot device Use these settings for a while and report back..,It should fix your problem.  [ Read More ]

Honeycomb Browser

It is a mystery that flash, a bragging point of android, is not shipped with honeycomb. After I saw the browser on honeycomb, I start to think that it might be related to this notorious bug, as we have discussed at here. This bug doesn’t affect android browsers released before honeycomb because all UI elements above the WebView component of stock android browser have been always set to scroll with the webView. However, on Xoom, the tabs and address bar will not scroll with the WebView component. This is exactly the case we have described in the bug report. I  [ Read More ]

We have a few quite important fixes here: 1. Finally, it handles popup windows as expect; 2. Google Reader, Buzz, and OpenId login all work now; 3. We have embedded code to tackle Nook Color’s white text on white background problem; 4. Finally, we removed some redundant code for taking thumbnail of bookmarked webpages.

First, thanks to ハどミま, we have Japanese language support now! Long…time ago, xScope 4.xx has a built in task viewer and killer. It requires a set of permissions that we forgot to remove after we removed the task part. Useless permissions, including: -android.permission.SET_PREFERRED_APPLICATIONS -android.permission.GET_TASKS -android.permission.RESTART_PACKAGES are removed. We have also removed the ‘trial’ watermark for trial version software. Last, we fixed a minor image stretching bug in tab switcher.

selectorTool

The stock text selecting and copying feature of android is really raw. We have implemented something to make it a little easier. See the screenshot. Basically, a user can move two handlers around to fine tune selection of text. Then a callout box shows three options: COPY, SEARCH, and SHARE. Please note that this feature is disabled on Gingerbread. Enjoy!

Revamped ‘settings’ page This is to make configuring the browser less confusing. Now users can actually define how they like buttons to react click/long click events. We added a ‘Reset to default’ option here too. Another notable change is that ‘Max history in each tab’ is an option now. It is important to know that since we use advanced caching technology here, xScope consumes lots of memory if too many history pages are kept. We have experimented many use cases and set 8 as a good default number. Complete history is still accessible at History page to be clear. Everything is WYSIWYG,  [ Read More ]
